I hope everyone had a fun filled Labor Day weekend!

I wanted to give everyone an update on Tony.  It has been a rough two weeks!  As I type this, I am sitting in the hospital room, with the lights off and listening to Tony sleep.  It is 11:00 p.m.  This is the 3rd time he has been in the hospital in the last two weeks.

On Tuesday 8/24 we met with Tony’s doctor to get CT and Bone Scan results.  Everything was positive news.  The cancer was stable and no new areas had shown up with cancer!  We were so thankful for this and we were so excited.  He took chemo on this same day.  That night he got sick from the chemo.  First time it has ever made him sick……and then his back started to hurt so bad in the lower spine.  The pain made him sick to his stomach so he was up all night.  I took him to his doctor the next morning.  They gave him some fluids and kept a watch on him for about an hour.  He was still hurting really bad so they admitted him to the hospital.  They ran an MRI on the lower back and found that between the 3rd and 5th vertabra he has a dislocated disc and is pinching a nerve.  They also tried some new pain medicine to help relieve the pain.  He stayed 3 days and got released on Saturday 8/28.

We were to sing in Hartsell, AL on Sunday 8/29.  We sang but the doctor told Tony to not travel during that weekend.  I was going to stay home with him on that Sunday but he told me to go on…..   That was the hardest thing I have done!  This was the first singing Tony has missed since being diagnosed with his cancer back in May 2008!  I missed him so bad!  But I knew he needed to rest and do what the doctor told him.

He was to do chemo on Tuesday 8/31 but they didn’t give it to him because he was so weak.  They did fluids and gave him steroids to hopefully help this.  They also told him to contact his radiologist to set up doing radiation on the section of his back for the pinched nerve.  So on Wednesday he went to that appt.  They did his first treatment on Thursday 9/2.  He got sick and started running fever that night.  His doctor told us that if he started running fever to go to the ER.  So that night that is where we were.  They admitted him to try to get the fever down and to help relieve the pain in his lower back.  They ran another MRI, this time on his lumbar spine, to make sure they didn’t miss anything.  His doctor told us that his spine was a mess!  He has bulging discs all the way down that is not related to the cancer!  So this is why Tony’s back has been in so much pain for the past several months!  They released him from the hospital on Saturday evening 9/4.

We had a singing close to home on Sunday 9/5.  Tony made it to that singing and then I took him back to the hospital because his pain medication just wasn’t helping to relieve the pain in his lower back.  So they are trying to get it regulated so it will work for him at home.  He should be released tomorrow 9/7 and do radiation in the afternoon.  We are praying that the radiation helps this spot.  He will have a total of 5 treatments.  Please pray this relieves that pain!

Please continue to pray for our family and our group!  We desire your prayers!!!  I know  God will get us THRU IT ALL!!!

I wanted to update everyone on Tony.  He had a doctor’s appointment on Tuesday 4/20 and we got some news we were not expecting.  The scans that Tony had done at the end of March showed that the cancer is showing progression on the left side again and the right side showed the area on the hip to be larger.  The doctor said the study drug that Tony has been on since December is not working.  So they stopped him from taking it immediately and he will undergo chemotherapy again.  This will start next Tuesday, 4/27.  He will take this every week.  This chemo is about the same as he had before so I am hoping and praying that he tolerates it as well as he did the last time.

Please pray for him during all this!  We thought things were stable because he wasn’t feeling too much pain, but I guess the study drug helped with the pain as well.  He has to be off medication for a week to start this round of chemo.  So right now he is not on anything.  He is noticing more pain in the areas of the bone that the cancer is in.  So we are praying the chemo also helps with this pain and to slow this cancer down!

Please pray for God to give him the strength he will need!  Please pray for our family and our group!  God has truly blessed us and we give HIM all our thanks!  He is a good God and He will take care of us!  Tony continues to be strong in his faith and he still has not missed a singing appointment yet!  He is truly amazing and I know he draws his strength from our Lord!

Pray without ceasing!

“The Lord is good, a STRONGHOLD in the day of trouble, and HE knoweth them that TRUST in HIM” – Nahum 1:7

I hope everyone has a very Blessed Easter Weekend!  Enjoy with family and friends!  We are off this weekend so we are going to enjoy some family time.  Tony and Jacob are going fishing Saturday morning with Tony’s brother, Buddy.  As for me and Emily we will be finalizing some shopping for her!  Then we are meeting up with the guys and we are having a big family cookout…..  I pray now for the weather to be nice!  I think rain is in the forecast, I just hope it waits until later that evening! :o)

Tony’s cousin, Kim Mackie Young, passed away on 3/25 and her funeral was this past Monday.  She was 40 years old and had two children and one grand-son.  She was a precious young lady!  We always enjoy spending time with her and her whole family.  Reba,  Alvin, Darrell & Holly,  you are in our prayers!  We all miss her but I am glad we will see her again someday!

Tony started his radiation treatments yesterday.  He will have a total of 12 radiation treatments which he will take everyday for the next 12 days.  He also had his Zometa treatment yesterday afternoon.  Please remember him in your prayers.  The Zometa makes him feel bad for several days after and makes his bones hurt.  He is hoping to be over most of this by this weekend!  He is looking forward to the “guys” fishing time!

God, thank you for sending your son, Jesus, to die for me and my sins!  He died on the cross and arose again on the third day and He is waiting for us!  One day, we will look up to the clouds and we will see His precious face!

Please make HIM a part of your Easter celebrations  If it wasn’t for HIM there wouldn’t be anything to celebrate.

Love you all!

It is a beautiful day here!  The sun is shining and it is warm!  I am sure with weather like this everything will start blooming!  I love Spring!!!!

Tony had his doctor’s appt yesterday, 3/23/10, and all his scans came back good!  The bone scan showed that the cancer on the left side had faded some and the right side didn’t really show anything new going on!  Thank You Lord!  The CT scan showed that the lymph nodes are shrinking and behaving themselves!  Thank You Lord!    He is having some pain in his right hip and leg, so he will be going to see his radiation doctor to see if doing radiation will be an option to relieve some of the hurting.  So please be praying about that!

We had a wonderful time in Ohio this past weekend!  Got to spend time with some dear friends!  Thank you Rhonda, Bessie and Herschel for a great time and a lot of laughs!!!!  We can’t wait until next year!!!!    We had amazing services at all the churches we went to!  God really blessed!!!

We did have one little mis-hap while on the road in Ohio…..   We learned you don’t pull off on the side of the road in Ohio until June!  We pulled over to check something on the bus, and we got stuck!  Our dear Pastor friend, Bro. Frankie Hunt, called us a tow truck and they had us out in a matter of no time!  Thank you Bro. Frankie for coming to our rescue and for visiting with us while were waiting at midnight!!!!

Well, until next time…..   May God richly bless each and every one of you!

Looking forward to the long weekend!!!  Can’t say I enjoy the ride through the hills of Kentucky on that bus, but I do keep in mind that God doesn’t give me the spirit of fear.  With that scripture in mind, I ride on with peace!!!!  Watch out Herschel, Bessie and Rhonda here we come!!!  Hope everyone has a great weekend!  Till next time God Bless and may you have Joy Unspeakable!!!

I will be having tests done this week to see how well the new drug is doing……   I had bone scans done today and then I will have a CT scan done on Thursday 3/18.  Then on Tuesday 3/23 we go to the doctor to get the results!  We are praying for good news and that the drug is working!!!!  The last time they did a PSA it had come down from 462 to 139!  So we are praying that it has come down even more.  They will check that on Tuesday during my doctor visit.

Thank you all for your prayers and thank you for always thinking of me, my family and our group!

o.k. –  I am trying to get used to the new blogging system :o)  I have posted something twice and it shows under Karen! :o)  But I think I have now figured out why…..  :o)  Sometimes I just don’t know about all this hi-tech stuff!!! hahaha

We had a wonderful weekend!  God came down and blessed at the services we were in!  It is amazing what God will do if we will just let go and let Him take over!  When we forget the outside world when we come together to worship amazing things happen!  And when we pray to feel His spirit and we WANT to be uplifted He answers!  We just have to LET Him work thru us!

We will be heading to Ohio next week!  We pray for traveling mercies and we pray to see people touched!  We travel the way we do for that reason only!  To see hearts touched, lives changed and the lost saved!

Please say an extra prayer for Tony this week!  He will be having scans done on Thursday 3/18/10.  We are praying for good results!

Love you all!!!!   Until next time….  May God Richly Bless You!

Amazing Weekend!
